Moflin is a guinea-pig-sized ball of fur that chirps, wriggles its head, and develops a 'personality' over about fifty days of handling. Everything runs on the device; there is no cloud, no subscription, and the optional app only shows a mood diary. It is the most 'alive-feeling' robot pet under $500 for an adult who wants comfort rather than tricks. It is fragile, the motor whines audibly, and the five-hour battery means daily charging. One Swiss nursing-home study used it with staff; there is no outcome data yet.
